Gary Velasquez

Gary co-founded Cogitativo and has spent 47 years in managed care. He joined PacifiCare in 1979 as its 13th employee, ran TRICARE and VA programs at Foundation Health Corporation, led information technology at Health Net, and founded MedUnite, an electronic data exchange owned by seven health plans. He was a founding participant of WEDI, served as chief executive of Synarc, and testified before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in 2024.

He has provided guidance to federal officials on AI in healthcare across three presidential administrations. He holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of San Francisco.

Meredith Mathews, MD, MPH

Dr. Mathews was chief medical officer of Blue Shield of California, where he oversaw disease and case management, pharmacy benefits, and medical policy. Earlier, he was chief medical officer of DaVita VillageHealth, Medica Health Plan, and Premera Blue Cross. A board-certified nephrologist, he practiced in Seattle for 18 years and was an associate professor of medicine at the University of Washington.

Tuan Dinh, PhD

Dr. Dinh co-founded Cogitativo after serving as vice president of analytics and modeling at Archimedes, Kaiser Permanente's health simulation company. His work there included the Archimedes Model of human physiology and disease, and IndiGO, a point-of-care tool for personalized guidelines. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Drew Erickson, PhD

Dr. Erickson leads the Visión team at Cogitativo, developing models that predict disease progression. He brings more than 20 years of experience in statistical analysis and scientific research. His earlier neuroscience research used causal models to study decision-making. Before Cogitativo, he led research and development at Talix and built genomic data models at Stanford University. He holds a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Arizona.

Anna-Marie Blinn

Anna-Marie leads Cogitativo's data engineering and IT teams, which build and run the secure data infrastructure behind every product. She also directs the cross-functional planning that keeps delivery on schedule. Before Cogitativo, she held leadership positions in product management and in operations at Imagine Communications, OpenTV, and Wink Communications. She holds a master's degree in computer science and a bachelor's degree in computer systems engineering from Stanford University.

John Gouzoules

John leads product at Cogitativo and the company’s responses to government and commercial opportunities. He brings over 25 years of product leadership, including roles at Olive, Vecna Technologies, NantHealth, and NaviNet, spanning patient intake, care management, revenue cycle, and payer-provider collaboration. He began his career in investment management and holds a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University.

David Buhler

David has 38 years in healthcare finance and operations across commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and behavioral health, in senior financial roles at organizations with revenues of $100M to $750M. He holds a degree in economics from Wake Forest University.
